Trustee Annie N. Delgado

S_Delgado02Annie has lived in Bellwood for twenty-seven (27) years. She graduated from Triton College in River Grove with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. She has also been awarded several certificates from the Parents As Teachers National Center, Inc. in addition she has received, a Certificate of Appreciation from the University of Illinois Extension.

Annie is employed as a certified Parent Educator for Bellwood School District 88. She obtained her certification from the Parents as Teachers (“P.A.T”) National Center, in St. Louis, Missouri. In her position as Parent Educator she visits the homes of families with children ages birth – three years old. The purpose of these visits is to prepare the children for preschool and assist the moms with the skills to stimulate and challenge their physical and intellectual capabilities. In addition, she visits the home care providers to provide them with educational resources to assist them in their day-to-day duties in caring for children.

Her position has allowed her to interact and work closely with the Teen Moms at Proviso West/East High Schools. She has been very instrumental in organizing various presenters to conduct workshops, seminars, etc, to address numerous topics and issues that confront and challenge our Teen Moms.

Ms. Delgado was formerly employed at Triton College, where she held the positions of Peer Counselor, Pre-School teacher and Model Parental Training Coordinator. This experience helped her gain a wealth of knowledge while she worked closely with the parents and residents of the immediate community and the various towns in the vicinity.

During her years at Midwestco Co., in Chicago, Illinois she held the responsibility of scheduling, training and supervising thirty (30) employees. While employed at Midwestco she was the recipient of many service awards.

Annie is a former member of Lighthouse of Hope (formerly Community Gospel) in Melrose Park. She has served as a Board Member and also as a Sunday School teacher to the three – five year olds. Her love for children and families keeps her actively involved in church. Recently, she changed her church membership and currently attends the Logos Church in Bellwood under the leadership of Pastor Delilah Jones.

Annie welcomes the opportunity to further impact her community in her key role as Board Trustee in the Village of Bellwood. Her objective as trustee is to tackle the social ills of our community to ensure that every child is afforded a quality education. “Since the children are our future we need to place greater emphasis on building the character traits of our children. In order for them to be effective, competitive and productive citizens we need to instill in them the importance of obtaining a sound education. The education of our children means for Village of Bellwood – better schools, better jobs and a better community.”

 Ms. Delgado is a committed and dedicated individual. She enjoys assisting the Hispanic families who she feels need more representation in the community. She brings to this position and the community, years of experience and integrity in dealing with the public and the issues they face. In whatever capacity she serves she has endeavored and continues to pursue these efforts with integrity and diligence.

Trustee Delgado is proud of the accomplishments this administration has achieved in the past three (3) years. The highlights of her accomplishments have been when she served as Chairman of Quality of Life and Chairman of Community Development. She was recently reappointed to serve as Chairman of Quality of Life. A position she thoroughly enjoys. She states, that these post are significant because they played a vital role in the safety, educational and developmental day-to-day lives of residents and the community.

Annie’s favorite pastimes are watching baseball, basketball, and football. In addition, she loves outdoor activities such as, camping, hiking and bike riding. Her favorite books are “Gifted Hands” and “Think Big” written by Dr. Ben Carson.
