Preparing students to become “lifelong learners” and productive members of a global society is my personal mission.
As a nineteen-year Bellwood resident, my highest priority is to provide educational leadership and support to improve the quality of life in the Bellwood community. I have been an educator for the past 25 years and worked professionally with students from infancy to geriatrics. I have a doctorate degree in education and presently, I serve as consultant to Illinois Association of School Administrators, ICON of Youth and Family Services in Detroit, MI, and First Impressions of Chicago. My service repertoire includes public school systems, parochial schools, hospitals, corporations, churches and civic organizations.
For eight years, I previously served School District 88, as Superintendent/Director of Human Resources/Technology and as program director/principal, among other posts. An interesting fact about myself is that, several years ago, the Village Board declared August 29, 1998 as Dr. Phylistine Murphy day in the Village of Bellwood.
My relentless efforts have and continue to be instrumental in the improvement in the quality of life for Bellwood residents. As a Village Trustee, Community Development Committee Member, and Advisory Member of the Village of Bellwood Community Development Commission, my purpose is to be instrumental in the development and implementation of a strategic plan with a design that will encourage economic and residential development and general improvements for the enhancement of the quality of life for all Bellwood residents.
