After graduating high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Army and served for 3 years as a Training Officer. He finished his Tour of Duty in 1966, then started his employment with the Chicago Transit Authority where he worked for 18 years as a Driver. Ron worked an additional 12 years in the Shop before retiring from CTA in 1997. Trustee Nightengale is currently Chairman of the Community Development Committee and a Member of the Traffic Safety Committee.

“My top priority is an opportunity for all Bellwood citizens. That’s why I’ve made this commitment to the current board. I’m impressed with the commitment to getting all citizens to work together for the betterment of our community and its people. The “us vs. them” mentality doesn’t help us to move forward. We all need to pull together. I’m also impressed with the direction in which the community is headed. There are new developments going up and new businesses are being attracted to our community. With the new alleys, lighting in the alleys and street improvement all without passing the burden on to the community in the form of raised taxes”.
